Step-by-step setup for Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and other Android phones.

Before You Start

  • Phone must be unlocked (not carrier-locked)
  • Connect to Wi-Fi
  • Have your QR code accessible (on another device or printed)
  • Android 10 or newer recommended

Compatible Devices

Google Pixel

Pixel 3 and newer (including Pixel 3a, 4, 4a, 5, 5a, 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8, 8a, 8 Pro, 9, 9 Pro)

Samsung Galaxy

Galaxy S20 and newer (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25), Note 20, Z Flip 3+, Z Fold 3+, Galaxy A54, A55

Other Brands

Xiaomi 12T Pro / 13 / 14 series, Huawei P40 (some regions), OnePlus 11+, Sony Xperia 10 IV+, Motorola Razr 2022+, Honor Magic 5+

Method 1: Install via QR Code

Samsung Galaxy

  1. Open Settings → Connections → SIM Manager
  2. Tap Add eSIM
  3. Tap Scan QR code from service provider
  4. Point camera at the QR code
  5. Tap Add when phone detects the plan
  6. Choose preferred line for calls/SMS/data — keep home SIM for calls
  7. Enable Data Roaming for the eSIM line

Google Pixel

  1. Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs
  2. Tap + Add eSIM
  3. Tap Download a SIM instead?
  4. Tap Next and scan the QR code
  5. Tap Activate
  6. Set Mobile Data preference and enable Roaming for the eSIM

Xiaomi / OnePlus / Others

  1. Open Settings → SIM cards & mobile networks (or similar)
  2. Tap Add eSIM or + next to eSIM
  3. Scan QR code
  4. Confirm activation
  5. Configure data roaming and preferred lines

Method 2: Manual Install (Activation Code)

  1. Go to Add eSIM screen (Method 1 step 1-2)
  2. Look for Enter code manually or Activation code
  3. Type the LPA string from your activation email — usually starts with LPA:1$
  4. Continue with the regular flow

Critical Settings for Travel

1. Enable Data Roaming on the eSIM

Settings → SIM Manager → tap eSIM → Data Roaming: ON. Travel eSIMs technically use partner networks via roaming.

2. Set Mobile Data to use eSIM

Otherwise your home SIM will use roaming data and you'll be charged by your home carrier.

3. Keep home SIM for calls/SMS

Voice and SMS stay on your home number; only data goes through the eSIM.

4. Disable automatic SIM switching (Samsung)

Some Samsung devices auto-switch SIMs based on signal. Turn off auto-switch to keep data on the eSIM.

Troubleshooting

Phone does not detect eSIM after scan

Ensure Wi-Fi is connected. Restart phone and try again. If still failing, try manual install.

Connected but no internet
