One Sri Lanka eSIM Here Runs for Six Months and the Next Longest Stops at Thirty Days

Half the plans listed above are sold for Sri Lanka alone and half are Asia cards that include it. Inside the Sri Lankan half, two things decide most purchases and neither is obvious from the prices: how long a card is allowed to last, and how little the two names on the list overlap. A third question, whether Sri Lankan registration rules touch a card bought here at all, has no published answer, and it is left open below rather than guessed at.

Validity Is the Real Constraint Here, Not Size

Validity on the Sri Lankan cards clusters tightly. Most of them carry a data cap, and all but one of those capped cards last seven, fifteen or thirty days. The rest drop the cap and run from one day to thirty. Then there is a single outlier: a fifty-gigabyte card valid for a hundred and eighty days. Nothing else in the list reaches even sixty.

Where the Six-Month Card Sits on Rate

It sits exactly in the middle. Rank the capped Sri Lankan cards by what a gigabyte costs and the six-month card lands on the midpoint, with as many cards cheaper per gigabyte as there are dearer. So the long card is not a premium for patience and it is not a bargain either. It is the ordinary rate of this list, sold in a much bigger block and given six times the runway.

What the Thirty-Day Cards Do Instead

The thirty-day cards climb in steps of three, five, ten and twenty gigabytes, and the rate improves at every step. The twenty-gigabyte monthly card is cheaper per gigabyte than the three-gigabyte one by a wide margin. If a trip fits inside a month, the size of the block matters far more than the length of it.

Esimaccess Holds Both Ends of the Range and Roamify the Middle

There is no three-way comparison to make in Sri Lanka. All but two of the country cards come from Roamify. Esimaccess has exactly two entries, and they sit at opposite ends of the list.

The Smallest Card and the Biggest Card Are Both Esimaccess

One gigabyte for a week, and fifty gigabytes for half a year, are the entire Esimaccess range for Sri Lanka. It holds the steepest rate in the list and the midpoint rate at once, because those two cards are that far apart. Nothing of its stock sits in between.

The Cheapest Rate Belongs to Roamify

The best rate on the Sri Lankan list is a twenty-gigabyte card running fifteen days, from Roamify. Which network carries either brand in Sri Lanka is not something either of them states, so the choice here is between price and shape.

Unlimited Here Means Short, Never Long

Seven cards drop the data cap entirely. All seven are Roamify cards and none of them runs past thirty days. The one-day version is the cheapest of the seven, though not the cheapest card in the Sri Lankan list, and the thirty-day version costs a little over half what the fifty-gigabyte six-month card costs.

The Ladder Runs One Day to Thirty, With No Rung Above It

One, three, five, seven, ten, fifteen and thirty days: that is the full unlimited ladder, and it has no rung above a month. Travellers staying longer who want no cap have to buy twice. The capped cards do not have that ceiling, which is the practical reason the six-month card exists.

Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Negombo, Jaffna and Ella Buy From the Same List

No card in the Sri Lankan list names a city, a province or a region. Buying for Colombo is the identical transaction to buying for Jaffna, because there is only one national list and every card in it is sold for the whole country. Distance from the capital changes nothing about price or size. A Colombo eSIM is the same object as a Negombo eSIM, sold from the same shelf.

The Coast and the Hill Country Are Not Priced Apart

Galle on the south coast, Kandy and Ella inland, Negombo beside the airport and Jaffna in the far north all draw on the same cards. Where coverage actually reaches inside the island is a question about the network behind the card, and neither brand states which network that is.

Sri Lanka Got Its First Commercial 5G in December 2025, and No Card Here Is Labelled 5G

One Sri Lankan operator announced a commercial 5G launch on 18 December 2025, and the regulator awarded 5G spectrum the following day. Every Sri Lankan card in this list is nevertheless sold as 4G. That is worth stating precisely, because the obvious reading of it is wrong.

What the Regulator Awarded

The TRCSL headline reads TRCSL Awards Spectrum for 5G Broadband Services After Historic Auction, dated 19 December 2025, and it names 3500 MHz and 27 GHz assignments. Dialog, on its own newsroom, announced the commercial launch of Dialog 5G Ultra on 18 December 2025. The regulator has not published a comparable statement for the other operators.

Why the 4G Label Describes the Cards, Not the Country

Across this entire site, only the Airalo cards ever carry a 5G label. Every other brand labels every card it sells, in every destination, as 4G. Airalo does not stock Sri Lanka. So the absence of a 5G card here reports which brands reached this destination, and reports nothing at all about what Sri Lankan networks now carry.

A Sri Lankan SIM Takes a Passport to Register. Whether That Rule Reaches These Cards Is Unresolved.

Sri Lanka has a published subscriber registration rule and a device registration decision, and both are easy to state. What is not easy to state is whether either one touches a card bought here, because no card says.

What the Gazette Requires

The registration gazette lists acceptable identity documents as the National Identity Card or Driving License or Valid Passport duly signed. Separately, the regulator recorded on 6 January 2025 that TRCSL has decided to implement IMEI Registration system. Both are regulator documents, not our reading of them.

The Part No Card States

Whether the profile delivered to a phone is a Sri Lankan subscriber profile or a visiting one is not stated by either brand, and the rules above attach to subscribers. Until that is published, any claim that these cards sit outside the registration rule would be invented, and any claim that they sit inside it would be too.
