Canggu eSIM — Stay Connected on Bali's Digital Nomad Coast
Canggu is Bali's digital nomad capital and one of Asia's most photographed surf villages, and a Canggu eSIM keeps you online from the moment you land at Denpasar Airport (DPS). With instant QR activation on Indonesia's top carriers (Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo, XL Axiata, Tri), you'll have fast 4G/5G coverage across Echo Beach, Batu Bolong, Berawa, Pererenan, and the Canggu Shortcut. Whether you're working remotely from Dojo Bali, surfing the Old Man's lineup, watching sunset at La Brisa, scootering to Tanah Lot Temple, or hopping over to Seminyak, Ubud, or Uluwatu, your eSIM travels with you nationwide. Plans start from $4.50 for 1GB / 7 days, with unlimited data plans built for remote workers running Zoom, Slack, and Figma all day. No SIM swap, no airport queues, no surprise roaming bills.
Why Choose an eSIM for Canggu?
Indonesia is outside most home-network roaming bundles, and roaming on a US/EU/UK SIM in Bali can cost $10+ per day. Local Telkomsel SIMs at the Denpasar Airport kiosks are cheap but require passport registration, sometimes a 30-minute wait, and only work in your phone if it's unlocked. With an eSIM, you scan a QR before you board and connect to a Bali tower the moment your plane lands at DPS — perfect for ordering a Grab or Bluebird taxi to Canggu (45 minutes via the toll road, or 75 minutes through Seminyak traffic).
Coverage Across Canggu, Echo Beach & Berawa
Telkomsel and Indosat both have strong 4G/LTE across Canggu — including Batu Bolong Beach, Echo Beach, Berawa, Pererenan, and along Jalan Pantai Berawa. Coverage is solid at popular cafés (Crate, Milk & Madu, The Loft, BGS, Penny Lane), coworking spaces (Dojo Bali, Tropical Nomad, Outpost), and beach clubs (La Brisa, La Laguna, Finns). Tanah Lot Temple area (15 min north) and Pererenan rice fields have full signal. On the water at Old Man's or Echo Beach lineups, expect 4G drops to 3G further out — fine for messaging but not video.
Best eSIM Plans for Digital Nomads in Canggu
Most Canggu visitors fall into one of three buckets. **Short-stay surfers (5-10 days)**: 5GB / 30 days is plenty for maps, WhatsApp, and surf cam apps. **Multi-week travelers** combining Canggu + Ubud + Nusa Penida + Uluwatu: 10GB / 30 days covers maps, ride apps, and social uploads. **Digital nomads** running Zoom, Loom, Notion, Figma all day from Dojo Bali or Tropical Nomad: pick an unlimited plan or 30GB+ — coworking Wi-Fi is usually solid but having backup mobile data prevents missed meetings during outages, which happen during heavy rain.
How to Activate Your Canggu eSIM
After purchase, you'll receive a QR code by email. On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Scan QR. On Android (Samsung, Pixel, Oppo): Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR. Activate the moment you land at Denpasar International Airport (DPS) or before leaving home — most plans start counting only when the eSIM connects to a Bali tower. Roaming will be ON by default for the eSIM line — that is correct, do not turn it off. Your home SIM stays installed for calls/SMS; the Bali eSIM only carries data.
