The Islands Regulator Publishes Two Different Counts of Its Own Licensees, and a Turks and Caicos eSIM Rides One of Them

The Turks and Caicos Islands have an independent telecommunications regulator that publishes both a market description and a licence register, and the two do not quite agree with each other. That is not a criticism so much as a useful signal, because a third licence was granted in early 2025 and the descriptive page appears to predate it. For a buyer the practical consequence is limited but worth knowing: no card here says which network its card uses, so the count matters mainly as a measure of how much choice sits behind the signal.

One Regulator Page Says Two Established Providers, the Register Lists Three

The Commission overview describes the market in terms of two established providers. Its own network licence page lists three holders, and the third was issued on 31 January 2025 with an end date in 2040. Both pages are current on the regulator site.

What the Licence Register Actually Records

Two licences were issued in 2021 and run to 2036: one recorded for full telecommunications services, granted 26 January 2021, and one recorded for fixed, mobile and internet services, granted 1 April 2021. The third, granted on 31 January 2025, is recorded for fixed and mobile internet services. The Commission itself was created by the Telecommunications Ordinance, 2004.

The Newest Licence Is Narrower Than the Other Two

The 2025 entry covers internet services rather than the fuller service description carried by the older two, which is the most likely reason the overview page still speaks of two established providers. Whether that third holder carries retail mobile traffic today is not something the register settles, and this page does not extrapolate from a licence category to a working network.

The Uncapped Column Reaches the Steepest Single Price in This List

Seven cards on the islands list drop the data cap, running from one day up to thirty. The thirty-day version is the largest single outlay anywhere in the list, by some distance from the biggest capped card.

Compare It Against the Largest Capped Block First

The month-long uncapped card costs well over twice the largest capped card on the page. That is a wide premium for removing a twenty-gigabyte ceiling, and it only pays for a visitor who genuinely expects to pass that ceiling. Most two-week trips will not.

The Caribbean Cards Match the Local List One for One

The wider cards listed above are Caribbean products, and there are as many of them as there are local ones. That is an unusually even split and it makes the comparison worth doing properly rather than assuming the local card wins.

Where the Wider Card Earns Its Place

A Caribbean card covers other islands as well, so for an itinerary with more than one stop it removes a second purchase. For a single-island trip the comparison comes down to rate per gigabyte at the size you actually need. Neither group is uniformly cheaper, which is why both are listed side by side rather than one being presented as the answer.

The Only Dated Coverage Statement Is From 2015 and Names Three Islands

Coverage claims for small island groups are usually unsourced. Here there is one dated statement from an operator, and it is specific about which islands it covers, but it is now old enough that it should be read as history rather than as a current promise.

What the Operator Announced in August 2015

Announcing its 4G LTE launch on 4 August 2015, the operator said the network boasts close to 100% coverage across Provo, Grand Turk and South Caicos. That is eleven years old, it names three islands out of a larger group, and it describes that operator own network rather than the network behind any card sold here. No newer coverage statement from the regulator or the operators was found.

Providenciales, Grand Turk, Cockburn Town and South Caicos Buy the Same Card

Nothing in the islands list is scoped to one island. Buying for Providenciales and buying for Grand Turk pull the same cards, and so does buying for South Caicos or for Cockburn Town, because every card is written for the territory. A Grand Turk eSIM is not sold as its own product.

The Smaller Cays Are a Coverage Question, Not a Price One

Providenciales carries most of the visitors and Cockburn Town on Grand Turk is the capital. Beyond those, the 2015 statement above named only South Caicos. Whether a signal reaches North Caicos, Middle Caicos or the smaller cays is a network question that no card here answers, but no card charges more for going there.

The Cheapest Card in This List Has No Data Cap at All

The lowest price in the islands list is not the smallest capped card. The one-day uncapped card costs less than the one-gigabyte card that runs a week, which inverts the usual reading of the price column and makes a short visit easy to provision.

For a Single Day, Stop Reading the Rate Column

An uncapped card has no rate per gigabyte to compare, and on this list it is also the cheapest thing available. For a day trip or a cruise call that makes the decision trivial. For anything longer the capped ladder takes over, and the best rate on it belongs to the largest block at the shortest duration.
