Roamify, Behind Most Vanuatu eSIM Cards, Charges the Same for Seven Days as for Thirty

Roamify, Airalo and Esimaccess each cover Vanuatu with a different shape of card. Roamify prices purely by how much data you take and treats the length of the card as free. Esimaccess sells single days. Airalo sells uncapped data at the top of the price range. That produces a page where the usual advice, buy the shortest card that covers your trip, is worth setting aside, and the reason is arithmetic rather than opinion.

Length Is Free on the Roamify Cards, So Never Take the Short Version

Look down the capped cards from the brand that carries most of this list and the same prices repeat three times over. Three gigabytes costs one figure whether the card runs seven, fifteen or thirty days. Five gigabytes costs another figure across the same three durations. Ten and twenty gigabytes behave identically. Duration simply does not enter that brand pricing.

Four Sizes, Three Durations, Four Prices

Twelve cards from that brand collapse into four distinct prices, one for each block of data. A traveller choosing the seven-day card over the thirty-day card at the same size pays exactly the same money for twenty-three fewer days of validity. There is no scenario in which that is the better purchase, and no discount for the shorter commitment because there is no difference to discount.

Where the Rate Actually Improves

Because length is free, the only lever left is size. Rate per gigabyte improves steadily from three gigabytes up to twenty, and the twenty-gigabyte cards share the best rate on the whole list by a clear margin, every duration of them alike. Best and worst here sit far enough apart that the choice of block matters more than the choice of brand.

Esimaccess Sells Nothing That Lasts Past Midnight

The second name on this list has a range that is easy to describe: every one of its cards expires after a single day. Sizes run from one gigabyte up to ten, all with the same one-day life.

Its Cards Hold the Three Steepest Rates on the Island List

Ranked by cost per gigabyte, the three worst rates in the Vanuatu list are all Esimaccess cards, and its smallest is the steepest of the lot. For a traveller landing for a few hours between flights the one-day shape may still fit, but set against a card that costs less and lasts a month, it rarely does.

Airalo Sells Only Unlimited, at the Top

Two cards, both unlimited data, both above anything else on the page in outlay. They are the only route to uncapped data beyond a week here, since the Roamify unlimited ladder stops at seven days. That is the whole argument for them.

The Regulator Has Stated Plainly That Nobody Has Deployed 5G

A missing 5G card usually says more about the brands than about the country. Vanuatu is the exception in this respect, because the national regulator has published the answer directly and it agrees with the cards.

What the Regulator Wrote in November 2025

In a network closure road map dated 5 November 2025, the Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator states that to date no operator has deployed 5G in its network. Not one card above carries a 5G label either, so for once the catalogue and the regulator describe the same situation.

The Older Networks Have Dates Attached

The same road map sets out that all 3G mobile networks in Vanuatu shall close by 31 December 2030, and all 2G networks by 31 December 2033. Those dates are far enough out to be irrelevant to a trip, but they matter for anyone carrying an old handset that has no 4G radio at all.

Three Licensed Operators, and the Newest Arrived in Late 2024

The regulator publishes its licensee register, which makes the operator question answerable here in a way it is not on many islands.

Who Holds a Telecommunications Licence

The register lists Telecom Vanuatu Ltd and Digicel (Vanuatu) Ltd, both licensed in March 2008, and Wantok Network Ltd, licensed on 19 November 2024. Each of the three is recorded against mobile, internet and fixed services. No card here ties its cards to one of those names, so the register is background rather than a way to choose.

Port Vila and Luganville Buy the Same Card as the Outer Islands

Vanuatu spreads over more than eighty islands and the population is concentrated in two towns. Nothing in the list reflects that. A Port Vila eSIM is the same product as a Luganville eSIM, and both are the same product a traveller heading to Tanna or Espiritu Santo would buy, because every card is sold for the country as a whole.

Distance From the Two Towns Changes Coverage, Not Price

Whether a signal reaches a remote island turns on which operator sits behind the card and where that operator has built. No card here names its network, so coverage island by island is outside what can be established here. What can be established is that no card charges more for going further out.

Vanuatu Requires SIM Registration, and the Wording That Covers Visitors Is Still in Draft

There is a gazetted registration rule, so the requirement itself is not in doubt. What is in doubt is the detail that would matter to a visitor, and the honest position is to separate the two.

What Is Actually in Force

The regulator records that the SIM registration order was gazetted in 2022 and is effective for implementation. The published order is a scanned document without machine-readable text, so the list of accepted identity documents could not be read from it directly.

Why the Non-Resident Clause Is Not Quoted Here

A draft consultation version from 2020 contains a clause requiring a non-resident to register a SIM card on providing personal information, with a passport field on the form. That draft is not the law. Quoting it as though it were would be inventing a rule, so it is flagged here as unconfirmed rather than presented as the requirement.
