Niger eSIM

Two checks come before you buy an eSIM for Niger, and both take under a minute. Typing star hash 06 hash should bring up an EID near the IMEI, showing the phone can carry a digital profile. Then confirm the handset is unlocked, since a locked phone rejects the Niger plan however it was bought. Install the QR code from checkout on a steady connection before the flight to Diori Hamani International Airport, and nothing is left for arrival. Days on most plans count from the first connection inside Niger rather than from installation, and each product detail spells out its rule. On the ground in Niamey, switch the travel line on, enable data roaming for it, and keep cellular data off on the home line. An eSIM card for Niger stays with the phone it was installed on, so a second phone for trips out to Zinder needs its own plan. A Niger SIM card, bought in person at an operator shop after you arrive, is the route to a local number. Because the plans here carry data only, a Niger prepaid SIM card makes sense if you need local calls or stay for months. For a visit of a few weeks, an eSIM in Niger keeps your own number in place and has data running before you leave the terminal.

Airtel and Moov Africa are among the mobile networks in Niger, and the suppliers on this page do not publish which network a plan roams onto. Service is strongest where people live, in Niamey and in the southern towns such as Maradi and Zinder. Much of the north lies in the Sahara, including the Aïr Mountains and the Ténéré, and long stretches there have little or no signal. We quote no speeds and promise no particular network type outside the capital, since no supplier publishes either. Save offline maps for any road trip beyond Niamey while you still have hotel wifi. Data roaming in Niger on your home line is billed by your own carrier, so switch cellular data off on that line before the plane lands. Cell phone service in Niger on your normal number continues for incoming calls and texts where your carrier roams, charged under its own terms. Messaging and video apps run on the eSIM once data flows, so calls home need no local number. Niger borders seven countries, among them Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso and Mali, and a Niger plan should not be assumed to work in any of them. If your route crosses into a neighbor, pick a plan that lists that country as well, or buy one for it separately.
