eSIM Vietnam Plans and Prices
A Vietnam eSIM gets your phone online as soon as you land in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, without a passport check at a SIM counter and without a roaming bill from your carrier at home. It installs before the flight, and your usual number stays in the phone for calls and texts. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An and Sapa all sit on one country plan, so a search for eSIM Hanoi or eSIM Da Nang ends on the products listed above. What decides whether the trip goes smoothly is less the plan than the phone, because Vietnam has switched off its 2G networks. The sections below cover choosing a plan, how the four networks work, and what to check before you buy.
Best eSIM for Vietnam
The best eSIM for Vietnam depends mostly on how long you stay, since many visitors spend two or three weeks traveling from north to south. Navigation, messaging and transport bookings across that kind of trip fit inside a mid-size bundle for most people. Airalo is the widest option here, running from a week to six months, with capped plans up to 100 GB and a broad set of unlimited ones. Esimaccess spans one day to six months with capped sizes up to 50 GB, but no unlimited version. Roamify covers a single day to a month, tops out at 20 GB on capped plans and includes several unlimited choices. Telcovision sells longer plans only, from thirty to ninety days, with up to 50 GB, which fits a slow season rather than a holiday. None of these reaches a full year, so a stay beyond six months needs a local line or a second purchase. If you are working remotely from Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City, compare a Vietnam eSIM unlimited data plan against a large capped bundle before assuming the bigger number is better value. A Vietnam travel eSIM for a one-night layover only needs a day, which Roamify and Esimaccess both sell. An e-SIM for Vietnam that runs low halfway down the coast can be followed by a second plan from this page.
Internet in Vietnam With an eSIM
Internet in Vietnam runs on four mobile networks, Viettel, Vinaphone, MobiFone and Vietnamobile, with virtual operators on top. No supplier on this page publishes which of them a plan roams onto, and the arrangement can change without notice, so anyone naming one is guessing. Vietnam has switched off 2G service completely, which leaves no older layer for a phone to fall back on. A handset old enough that 4G support is uncertain should be checked before you buy any plan, while a modern phone will not notice the change. How the signal behaves in the northern mountains around Sapa and Ha Giang is not something any supplier publishes. Download offline maps before the Ha Giang loop rather than during it. Data roaming in Vietnam should be on for the travel line and off for your home line, which your own carrier would otherwise bill under its roaming terms. Cell phone service in Vietnam on your usual number continues for calls and texts, charged by your home carrier. Maps, ride-hailing and messaging apps use the travel data like any other connection. An eSIM in Vietnam works the same from Hue to Phu Quoc, since the whole country sits on one price.
Buy an eSIM for Vietnam
Before you buy an eSIM for Vietnam, check that your handset supports eSIM and has no carrier lock, and in this country confirm 4G support too. Star hash 06 hash reveals an EID beside the IMEI on phones that have the chip, and any phone new enough for eSIM is new enough for the 2G shutdown not to matter. Checkout sends the QR code by email, and installing it at home over a trusted connection is the step to finish before the flight. Most plans start counting days when they first attach to a Vietnamese network, and each product page names its trigger. After landing, turn the travel line on and enable data roaming for it only. An eSIM card for Vietnam is tied to the handset it was installed on, so a phone lost on a night bus cannot pass its plan to a new one. A Vietnam SIM card from a local operator shop is sold in person against your passport and is the route to a Vietnamese number. That Vietnam prepaid SIM card makes sense on a long stay, and it is not sold on this page. For a two week visit, buying here saves the counter queue and has you online before the taxi leaves the airport.
